Getting the Best Performance Out of Your Weber Manifold: Tips and Tricks

Installing a new Weber intake manifold is one of the most exciting upgrades you can make to your engine. These specialized car manifolds are designed to optimize airflow, significantly improving throttle response and horsepower over a stock setup. However, bolting on the manifold is just the first step. Here's Pierce Manifolds top tips for getting the most out of your new manifold. Shop today.

Achieve a Perfect, Airtight Seal

The number one killer of performance is a vacuum leak. Your new manifold must seal perfectly against both the cylinder head and the carburetor base. Always use new, high-quality gaskets and ensure all mating surfaces are perfectly clean and flat. We also highly recommend "port matching" by checking that the manifold's ports align perfectly with your cylinder head's ports.

Synchronize and Tune Your Carburetors

Your Weber intake manifold is only as good as the signal it provides to the carburetors. If you're running a multi-carburetor setup (like dual DCOEs), they must be perfectly synchronized. Use a synchrometer to ensure each carburetor barrel is drawing the exact same amount of air at idle. An unsynchronized system will idle poorly, hesitate, and feel sluggish, completely defeating the purpose of your upgrade.

Invest in Quality Linkage and Fuel Control

A world-class manifold and perfectly tuned carbs can be ruined by a sticky, binding throttle linkage. Your linkage should be smooth, progressive, and return to idle every time without fail. Similarly, Weber carburetors are sensitive to fuel pressure. When you buy car parts online for your project, always include a quality fuel pressure regulator. Most Weber carburetor parts are designed to run at a low, stable 3-3.5 PSI.
